  • EVERVINE, Chapter 11, Parvati

Every time she tried to shut the thoughts out, they kept creeping in.  I know he’s saying ‘cuckoo cachoooo’ not ‘good job.’ That’s ridiculous.  “No, stop,” she told herself.  “Focus on the mantra.” I wonder if Dr. Singh got my notes.  I told him to confirm that he did.  Is he just giving me space Continue reading

  • EVERVINE – Chapter 10 – Deus vult!

When light clashes with darkness there is no coming to terms.  Instead, there is only the struggle for life and death until the annihilation of one or the other. Dietrich Eckart             Ashley was positively ebullient and, consequently, all was bliss for Joe Hughes.  As their motorcade rode along the mountain road, she snuggled up Continue reading

  • EVERVINE, Chapter 9, Kuan Yin

The cap of her pen was already ruined.  She vigorously chewed on it as she tapped her foot to the beat of Bowie’s Queen Bitch blaring through the wireless speaker on her desk.  Although the volume was already too loud for an office setting, she turned it up when she heard the opening riff.  As Continue reading

  • EVERVINE, Chapter 8, Fidelity

Joe nervously shuffled the blue printed index cards in his hands as the black SUV pulled away from the hotel.  For the past three days his campaign team prepped him for every conceivable topic in advance of this debate, the only debate that would be held before the general election, but he was still very Continue reading

  • EVERVINE, Chapter 7, Asase Yaa

She was surrounded by her sisters and cousins and aunt forming a wall of protection around her.  To the unaware there would seem to be nothing out of the ordinary in this gathering, but such was the crucial element.  Whether by intent or instinct honed over millennia, even they needed this camouflage for survival.  To Continue reading

  • EVERVINE, Chapter 5, The Colosseum

Joe was completely exhausted as he got out of the shower in his room at the Agape Lodge.  It was an impressive, brand-new hotel on the grounds of Agape Valley.  The organization bought the land five years ago in a cost saving move by the State of North Carolina or so the public was told.  Continue reading

  • EVERVINE, Chapter 4, Vincere

I myself have read the writings and teachings of the heretics, polluting my soul for a while with their abominable notions, though deriving this benefit: I was able to refute them myself and loathe them even more. Eusebius Ashley did her final checks in the monitor before the taping began.  She was trying to focus, Continue reading

James Redfield sold copies of The Celestine Prophecy out of the trunk of his car. Even Frank Herbert’s Dune started off in a tiny science fiction magazine before Continue reading

  • EVERVINE, Chapter 3, Fraternity

As his consciousness flicked back on from a dreamless sleep Auri struggled to comprehend the sensations he was feeling.  Slowly he realized the intruding presence in his bedroom was indeed daylight.  The muslin curtains swayed in the breeze of the ceiling fan and Auri cursed the severity of his inebriation for robbing him of the Continue reading
